DIGITAL INTERACTIVE VETERINARY ANATOMY

'Digital Interactive Veterinary Anatomy' (DIVA) guides were devised and created by Fay Penrose and Kieron Salmon. They consist of a series of interactive photographic guides to dissections, and were created to enhance the teaching of functional anatomy. Each guide consists of a series of detailed dissection photographs with accompanying explanatory text. When the user mouses-over the blue words within the text, the relevant anatomy is highlighted in the photograph.

The technology used to create the original guides is becoming obsolete, and the original guides only work on computers running Apple Mac or Microsoft Windows operating systems. Consequently they are gradually being updated to modern technology that will work on computers and more modern devices (e.g. Apple iPads).

NEW DIVA GUIDES (DIVA v3)

These guides have been updated to take full advantage of modern technology and should run on most devices.

OLD DIVA GUIDES (DIVA v2)

The original DIVA guides used Flash technology. Flash is now obsolete and actively blocked by modern web browsers. Please uninstall Flash from your computers (instructions available here).

These guides now run in an emulator and will work on Mac or Windows computers (using Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox). While the navigation buttons and mouse-overs function, unfortunately the contents pages do not display correctly.

The files take around 30 seconds to load as the emulator has to convert the file into another format, so please be patient. The guide will autoplay on Edge and Chrome, but with Firefox and Safari you will need to click the large orange play button. You can also right click on the guide and choose "Enter fullscreen" to display the guide full-screen.

OLD DIVA GUIDES (DIVA v1)

These guides unfortunately will not run in the emulator and have been disabled. We will try to update these guides as soon as possible.
